Assistive Technology

Assistive technology is any tool, device, equipment, software, or app that helps a person complete tasks more easily, safely, or independently.

Examples may include magnifiers, communication apps, adaptive keyboards, memory aids, or equipment that makes daily living tasks, such as reading, eating, dressing, or writing, easier.

The Center for Independent Living Gulf Coast provides assistive technology services through the Florida Alliance for Assistive Services and Technology, also known as FAAST, Florida’s assistive technology program. The mission of FAAST is to improve the quality of life for Floridians with disabilities by increasing access to assistive technology.

The FAAST Southwest Regional Demonstration Center (SWRDC), located at the Center for Independent Living Gulf Coast, helps people with disabilities, seniors, families, caregivers, and professionals explore assistive technology solutions that make completing everyday tasks easier.

As the FAAST Southwest RDC, we provide free assistive technology services to help individuals find practical solutions that meet their needs.
